Are you a Cowboy Junkie???

Been a while since I thought about this band. Old friend from the Army turned me on to them. Gotta say not my normal style but something about the band still makes me tap a toe!!!

Just returned from another trip to Florida. I lucked out this time and my friend and colleague Greg G. cooked dinner for us one night. Pork tenderloin with Dizzy Pig Raging River rub and grilled asparagus. Man by the time we were done I was stuffed.

Florida and Dillard Georgia

We did our first KCBS contest this year at Dillard GA. Didn't get any calls but we had a great time with family and friends!!! First up is a picture of our ribs as they were cooking and then a shot from the side of the Dillard house

Sunday I left for a week in Florida. Did a couple of demos and visited dealers and potential dealers from Jacksonville down to Melbourne over to Lakeland.

Way To Busy!

Since my last post I have had another trip to Ohio and a trip to Florida and a short one to Missouri! I drove on all of these so it was hard to get from one place to another and stop and take pics when you are following someone. So this time I flew and had a rental car. I thought hey I will have time to stop take pics and do a post up right. Well that plan didn't work out. I flew into Seattle spent the night and worked for 2 days but had no car. This put a damper on picture taking. Next I drove to Spokane after working all day. This is a 4 hour trip. Next day drove 3.5 hours to destination. Missoula MT starting a 6am and then we worked our way back to Spokane and landed back there around 5. Then it was 5.5 hours to Portland after that. Another day of work then 3 hours back to Seattle to fly out at 7am. Man was I beat by the time I got home that afternoon. Anyway I got a few crappy pics on my way to Portland. The road follows the Columbia River for a long way and it is a beautiful ride.

This was a great sunset. If you look very closely you can see the windmills on top of the hill.

Some of the scenery!

Between Seattle and Portland there are tons of micro brews. This one was a Mack and Jacks. I also had another called Mannie's. Both good quality solid beers. Well I have a couple of weeks mostly at home with a KCBS competition in Dillard GA next weekend. I will definitely get some pics from there.

Alabama and Tennessee

Another week down on the road. Started north of Birmingham AL and ended in Manchester TN. I was busy driving most of the time but we did manage a lunch at Big Bob Gibson's in Decatur AL. 2nd location not the original but it was pouring rain so we wanted to stop ASAP. Food was above average for sure. I got a chicken 1/4 dark meat that I put some white sauce on and had beans and tater salad on the side. The tater salad was the best I ever had going out to eat. Other than that the trip was pretty standard. Glad to home for a week.

45 Today!

Well I feel like I have reached a small milestone today, 45 years old. I must admit I have been a touch melancholy but nothing a good beer didn't fix(Ranger IPA from New Belgium Brewing). As I think back I can remember the kids being little and me only in my early twenties!!! Man oh man so much has changed and so much is different in just that now short period of time. You know other than 25 years of climbing ladders, using heavy drill guns, plus sports and the Army I still feel about 20 years old. I have a few minor aches and pains in my elbows and knees but heck I can still do 50 push ups and more sit ups no problem. Anyway so since I had a little bit of the blues I was thinking music. What's new there? I relate music to all aspects of my life so today was no different. Well way back in the memory bank came a Texas blues song from ZZ Top. I don't think it was ever a popular song but it is I guess my favorite ZZ Top song. You gotta love invisible 7-11's and floating naked cowgirls!!! Man this song just gets you moving. Tomorrows a new day and I have tons to be thankful for no doubt. Enjoy the song. I know I did several times!!!
